Healthy distance in interactions with patients: a practical focus from CARE

As part of the CARE – Caring for the Caregivers programme, a series of practical sessions for nurses was held at the Volyn Regional Clinical Hospital on the topic of professional boundaries and maintaining a healthy distance in interactions with patients.

It’s about the balance we have to maintain every day at work: between engagement and burnout, between supporting others and preserving our own resources.

The practical work within the programme provided a space to reflect on personal experiences, professional roles and inner strengths within the profession.

The session was led by Kateryna Toy, a psychologist and communications trainer who works on issues of professional burnout, emotional management and building healthy interactions in the professional environment. In her practice, she combines psychological approaches with tools for effective communication, particularly when dealing with boundaries and complex interactions.

We would like to thank the participants for their openness, trust and willingness to discuss matters that usually remain ‘behind the scenes’ of the profession.

The “CARE” project is implemented by the European-Ukrainian Council for Cooperation and Development (EUCCD) with the support of the Ministry of the Interior of the Czech Republic as part of the MEDEVAC czech, in partnership with the Volyn Regional Clinical Hospital.
