CARE – CARING FOR THE CAREGIVERS
CARE – CARING FOR THE CAREGIVERS
CARE – Caring for the Caregivers is a comprehensive psychological support and burnout prevention program for 750 nurses at the Volyn Regional Clinical Hospital.
The project is being implemented in response to the growing risks of emotional exhaustion, chronic stress, and secondary traumatization of medical personnel, which have significantly increased in the context of full-scale war.
Particular attention is paid to the fact that nursing in Ukraine is predominantly a female profession, where professional workload is often combined with additional responsibilities in the family.
Project goal
Support the psychological well-being of nurses, reduce the level of professional burnout, and contribute to maintaining the quality of medical care in the region.
Main components of the program
- Psychological diagnosis using internationally recognized tools to assess the level of professional burnout and psycho-emotional state;
- Training and practical classes aimed at developing stress management, emotional self-regulation, and professional communication skills;
- Individual psychological counseling for nurses who need personalized support;
- Group work and support groups, including specialized Balint groups for working through emotionally difficult clinical situations;
- Creation of a psycho-emotional relief room as a permanent space for hospital staff to recover.
Partners and implementation
The project is being implemented by the European-Ukrainian Cooperation and Development Council (EUCCD) in partnership with the Volyn Regional Clinical Hospital, with support from the Czech Ministry of the Interior through the MEDEVAC program.
